  • Jenene Herring Seymour

    Development Manager

    Jenene Seymour has more than 20 years of experience in the areas of philanthropy and education. She successively served as director of foundation relations with Johnson C. Smith University and Livingstone College, managing foundation fundraising strategy, solicitation, and stewardship for each. Prior to these roles, she was a senior vice president with Foundation For The Carolinas, where she oversaw administration and award distributions for more than 100 scholarship and grantmaking funds. Jenene began her career in college recruitment and admissions, helping academically and economically underprepared students pursue their higher education goals. Jenene is a native of Buffalo, NY, and received her bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in education administration from Temple University.

    She is a dedicated servant leader with a passion for youth and education. She is immediate past board chairperson for the Charlotte Housing Authority Scholarship Fund and has also served as a board member with Right Moves For Youth, National Coalition of 100 Black Women – Queen City Metropolitan Chapter, and the ANSWER Scholarship Foundation. Jenene is a William C. Friday Fellow for Human Relations with the Wildacres Leadership Initiative and was named a 2014 “Woman of Inspiration” by Charlotte’s GirlTalk Foundation. Her favorite childhood book was Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.
