  • Maris Goodstein

    Maris Goodstein

    Executive Director, New York

    Maris has spent the last decade in the nonprofit sector working to close the achievement gap in low-income communities. Before joining Reading Partners as executive director for the New York region in 2013, she spent seven years with City Year New York, most recently as chief of staff. Maris is a passionate leader who believes that volunteerism can help address critical problems facing our country. She is a vegetarian, and enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family. She is a proud Barnard College alumna. You can reach Maris at maris.goodstein@readingpartners.org.
  • Alexandra Black

    Program Manager

    After graduating from Boston University, Alex taught ninth and tenth grade English as a Teach For America AmeriCorps member in Jacksonville, Florida. Most recently, she spent two years with Citizen Schools where she led a team of AmeriCorps teaching fellows to provide extended learning time at a middle school in the South Bronx. Alex is excited to join the Reading Partners team and to continue working to ensure all students have access to the opportunities and resources they need to be successful. A Queens native, she is a proud product of New York City public schools (and the best borough). Feel free to ask her about her favorite Game of Thrones theory.   • Yanely Espinal

    Program Manager

    Born and raised in Brooklyn, Yanely is a proud product of NYC public schools. In her second year as a program manager, she is excited to have the opportunity to support schools in her hometown for the 2016-17 school year. Yanely graduated from Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School before going on to receive her bachelor's degree at Brown University. She joined Teach For America in 2011, teaching third and fourth grade in Canarsie, Brooklyn. She received her master's degree from Relay Graduate School of Education in 2013. In her spare time she spends time with her family, sews, paints, listens to podcasts, and helps people learn about basic money management.   • Allison Hoyle

    Program Manager

    Alli is a program manager in NYC. Prior to joining Reading Partners, Alli taught third grade and first grade with Teach For America and was a middle school literacy coach in Miami, FL. Most recently, Alli completed a master's degree in public administration and social work at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH while working for the State Department of Education in the Office of Early Learning and School Readiness. Alli graduated from The University of Florida with a bachelor's in psychology and english literature.   • Kaitlin Kotsko

    Deputy Director, Program

    Kate is excited to be joining Reading Partners New York as the senior program manager. After graduating from University of Georgia, she started her career in education as a fourth grade teacher in Charlotte, NC. She then transitioned to a staff role at Teach For America, where she recruited over 100 teachers to join the teaching force to end educational inequity in our country. After that, she worked for Teach For America in New York as a coach and manager of first and second year teachers. Most recently, she worked in a charter school in Harlem as the English language learner program manager and as a kindergarten teacher. Kate has a passion for providing young students with all of the resources and opportunities needed to become lifelong readers and learners! In her free time, Kate enjoys exploring great restaurants in New York, catching Broadway shows, and training for her first NYC marathon! You can reach her at kaitlin.kotsko@readingpartners.org.
  • Rhea Quinones

    Community Engagement Manager

    Rhea is honored to join Reading Partners as the community engagement manager for the New York region. Rhea spent three years with Achievement First Charter School Network where she developed community partnerships in Brooklyn, ensured strong family engagement, and managed community outreach for student recruitment efforts. Prior to to her work with Achievement First, Mrs. Quinones worked as a community organizer for a decade, supporting grass roots education, housing, and transit organizing in Mammoth Lakes, CA, Chicago, IL, Manhattan, NY, and Patterson, NJ. Rhea is committed to giving all students access to an amazing education, and is passionate about using volunteers to help address critical problems facing our country.
  • Megan Ross

    Director, New Business Development

    Megan joins the Reading Partners New York team as the first senior major gifts officer in the network. Most recently, Megan served for six years in a similar role at City Year New York. Megan's experiences focus primarily on individual giving, piloting national major gifts programs, and relationship development on all levels. Megan is thrilled to be joining a wonderful team in New York and is very excited about the prospect of developing a major gifts program both locally and nationally for Reading Partners. Megan lives in New Jersey with her husband and three children and has seen first hand the importance of developing strong literacy skills at a young age. Megan is honored to be working with a national nonprofit organization with a proven model and measurable results that will literally be changing the educational outcomes for countless of our country's youth.   • Juliette Stableski

    Senior Development Manager

    Juliette's professional experience spans the  public and private sectors. After working as a writer and editor in business and publishing, she moved into the nonprofit industry to use her passion for communication to inspire support for mission-driven organizations. Prior to joining Reading Partners, she spent four years on the National Development Team of New Leaders, an organization that recruits, trains, and supports principals for high-need urban schools. She was also Director of Development at Global Kids, which works with underserved youth to develop their leadership skills, global awareness, and civic engagement. Juliette holds a BA in English from Amherst College and is an alumna of Coro Leadership New York and a Council of Urban Professionals 2013 Fellow.   • Kemba Tamar

    Director, NYC Strategic Initiatives

    Kemba is no stranger to literacy or the nonprofit world. After graduating from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, she jumped right into the nonprofit sector and ran a tutorial program in Baltimore City Schools that had over 20 AmeriCorps members serving Southwest Baltimore and East Baltimore. For the past 15 years, Kemba was the Program Director for the Community Service Society NYC Experience Corps Program. Her passion has always been centered around student achievement and mobilizing volunteers to serve in their local communities. Over the years, she has worked with multiple school districts across New York City. She is a proud mom and in her spare time, Kemba enjoys spending time with family and traveling.   • Elaine Tang

    Program Manager

    Elaine is joining Reading Partners as a program manager for the Queens and East Harlem school sites. Prior to Reading Partners, she taught in public elementary schools in New Jersey as a general education and academic intervention teacher. Elaine is a proud Rutgers University alumna where she earned her bachelor's in English literature and master of education in elementary/special education. At Rutgers, she served as an Urban Teaching Fellow through which she became passionate about culturally responsive pedagogy, effecting social change through education, and redressing the societal factors that contribute to the achievement gap.
