Charting success

Alsea resides in Seattle and studies global development at Seattle Pacific University. Alsea is passionate about education and started volunteering as a reading partner in an effort to increase opportunities for kids in her own community.

“It is so rewarding to be able to spend time with Kevin and see him learn and grow from one session to the next,” she says.

“My favorite moments are when we do the fluency exercises. Since we graph the results, Kevin is able to see his improvement, and you can tell that he feels much more confident and capable every time. When I started with Reading Partners, Kevin was very shy, but every week he grows more confident. And it is amazing to be a part of that,” says Alsea.
