Supporter spotlight: Ann Farrow in Tulsa
When she’s not busy with her real estate business, Ann Farrow can be found tutoring a Reading Partners student at Eugene Field Elementary School. She’s been volunteering with Reading Partners since the fall of 2016 and believes strongly that all children deserve to reach their full potential. After tutoring with Reading Partners for a year, Ann decided to expand her work with the organization and just completed her first term serving on Reading Partners Tulsa’s board.
Ann is very involved in her community and before joining Reading Partners she served for many years with the Tulsa Area United Way. Here, Ann shares why she believes it’s important to invest in her community and support reading education for local students.
Why Ann supports Reading Partners
“I was inspired to get involved with Reading Partners because I have several friends who are reading partners and they love it. My mother was a reading specialist and I grew up with books everywhere. Reading Partners is a great way to give back to our community. But, watching the children learn and grow has been the best part!
My motivation for being a volunteer is a little bit selfish, I love being with the kids and being a part of their success. My husband, Mark, and I are motivated to donate because reading is truly the basis for learning and we want all children to have the opportunity to succeed.
I believe it is very important to give both time and money to Reading Partners because reading is a most valuable life skill. Reading Partners provides an opportunity for children to come up to grade level and develop a lifelong love of reading. Giving even one child the chance to become a good reader is very important. Reading Partners provides a way to help hundreds of children develop strong reading skills.”
Thank you, Ann, for your commitment to literacy education!
