Program Updates

Thank you to everyone who has joined us in our efforts to provide an opportunity to students who are below grade level in reading. Here are a few updates:

  • Student enrollment has been extended to March 16. This gives us more time to recruit tutors and provide services to more students.
  • If you know anyone who would like to volunteer for the last few months of school, please reach out!
  • We are currently at 72% of our enrollment goal of 645 students. We need your help!
  • This summer, we will be supporting CCSD’s  “The Read to Succeed” Summer School program.  We will need volunteers to help June 17th-July 3rd. It will be held Monday-Friday 8:00-3:00. The location is to be determined.
  • Midyear testing is well on its way, and the results so far are looking great! Please ask your Program Coordinator how your student is doing.
  • Be on the lookout for some exciting events coming in the next few months!

According to Punxsutawney Phil, spring is on its way! That being said, if you plan to miss any days with your student, please let your program coordinator know so they can work on covering your sessions or scheduling you for a makeup session.

Thank you again for your dedication to our students. Without you, we couldn’t do what we do!!

Donor and Volunteer Appreciation Event on April 25

Join us at High Wire Distillery from 6-9 pm on April 25 for another exciting donor and volunteer appreciation event! Tickets will be available for purchase online.

Wild Dunes Author Event Recap

On January 14 hundreds of book lovers came together on Isle of Palms for the 19th annual Wild Dunes Author Event hosted by Mary Alice Monroe. Guests were awed by three incredible authors, Shelby Van Pelt, William Kent Krueger, and Stacey Willingham, who gave unique insights into their writing techniques and stories behind their latest characters. Our friends at Buxton Books were also there working hard to distribute the authors’ books into guests’ eager hands. In the lobby, Reading Partners hosted a silent auction that raised $3,676 for our programs! Proceeds from the event’s ticket sales are being generously donated to Reading Partners as well.

A Very Successful Mahj & Mimosas!

Reading Partners was generously selected as the benefiting charity for the CHS MAHJ SQUAD’s first Mahj & Mimosas event held at Frannie & the Fox on February 6. Over 80 women gathered to play MahJong over brunch and mimosas. The CHS MAHJ SQUAD also hosted a competitive raffle which raised $6,015. The highly successful event generated $9,390 for Reading Partners! Thank you to the wonderful hosts and all the women who attended. Follow @chsmahjsquad on Instagram to stay informed on upcoming events.
