Volunteer in Seattle

Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer reading partner. While all volunteer slots for the current school year are filled, you can still sign up if you are interested in volunteering in the 2022-23 school year.

Once you review the volunteer requirements and complete the sign-up process, a member of the Reading Partners team will reach out over the summer with updates about volunteer needs, the tutor orientation process, and how to get started.

Volunteer Requirements

  • Age

    You must be 18-years or older
  • Time

    Commit to a little over one hour per week (tutoring generally takes place 8 am-4 pm, Mon, Tue, Thurs, and Fri)
  • Training

    Complete required tutor orientation(s) (orientations run about two hours long) and have access to a computer and reliable wifi.
  • Screening

    Pass a background check and any additional required screening
  • Terms and conditions

    Agree to the terms of our tutor code of conduct

Reading Partners Programs

Reading Partners will follow all COVID-19 school safety requirements and is prepared to deliver online or in-person volunteer opportunities aligned with local guidelines. More information will be provided about our 2022-23 school year volunteer opportunities before the school year begins. Learn more about our two programs: Reading Partners Traditional in-person model and Reading Partners Connects online model.
