Overview
The San Francisco Bay Area is the birthplace of Reading Partners. Over the years, Reading Partners has grown from operating its reading centers in one school on the Peninsula to operating in twenty schools throughout San Francisco, the East Bay, the Peninsula, the South Bay and the North Bay.
Each on-campus reading center operates in in a converted classroom or a library. Every reading center is staffed by a Reading Partners Site Coordinator to work with the school staff, understand student needs, and guide volunteer tutors.
In 2010-11 in the San Francisco Bay Area, Reading Partners will:

Senior Program Manager, East Bay
Desiree received her BA in Child Development with a Multiple Subject Teaching Option from California State University Los Angeles. Always wanting to be part of a community building team, she worked for the City of Los Angeles Commission for Children, Youth and Families and the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment before earning her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and teaching sixth through eighth grade English and History. She joined Reading Partners in 2008 as the Site Director at Washington Accelerated School in Pasadena, and now manages the East Bay reading centers.
