Expanding literacy access in the Mid-Atlantic
Reading Partners has been part of the educational landscape in the Mid-Atlantic since 2010, when we first began placing community volunteers in Title I elementary schools in Washington, DC to support students in mastering essential reading skills. We expanded to Baltimore the following year, and then in 2025, merged our Baltimore and DC regions into one unified Mid-Atlantic region. Our one-on-one tutoring model empowers young readers to succeed in reading and in life through the engagement of community volunteers who provide individualized, personal attention to each student in our program.

One of my students told me on the first day that she could not read. When she recently read by herself flawlessly, I reminded her of what she said and that she had just proven herself wrong. Her smile was priceless.
