The 5th Annual Sonny Boy’s 5K: A Walk for Literacy will take place at Anacostia Park (1900 Anacostia Dr, Washington, DC 20020) on Saturday, October 31st at 9 AM!

Hosted by Reading Partners Mid-Atlantic (Washington, DC) board member, Silas Grant Jr., Sonny Boy’s 5K is a legacy-building fundraiser that celebrates the life of Silas Grant Sr. and raises awareness for the necessity of early literacy intervention.

Silas Grant Sr., who remained functionally illiterate until his passing in October 2021, was the inspiration for his son, Silas Grant Jr., to ensure that community members in Washington, DC, did not experience the same hardship his father experienced, navigating his adult life illiterate.

Help us honor the Grant name by raising funds to support the ongoing efforts by Reading Partners to combat the literacy crisis and ensure the success of the next generation.

With the addition of food and activation stations, this family engagement fundraiser will be the highlight of your Halloween weekend. Join us on Saturday, October 31, to help increase awareness, because every step starts with literacy!
