Ras J. Baraka, the mayor of Newark, New Jersey, speaks on the importance of early literacy and spotlights the partnership with GreenLight Fund Greater Newark and Reading Partners. Mayor Baraka emphasizes the fact that the partnership is helping provide free tutoring to hundreds of K-3 students across Newark. Reading Partners’ Dr. Naima Ricks, who is the managing director of partnerships and growth in Newark, is included in the video alongside Newark’s Chief Education Officer, Dr. Sharnee Brown. Dr. Ricks highlights how our program works and how students stand to benefit.
