Reading Partners Hosts Community Read with Author Jeffrey Blount

The Charleston community invited to a book discussion and conversation on educational equity

Charleston, SC – April 5, 2021 — Join Reading Partners South Carolina for a virtual book discussion and conversation about educational equity with author and Reading Partners national board member Jeffrey Blount on April 22, 5:30-6:15pm. The event will include remarks from Jeffrey, a moderated conversation around educational equity, and a Q&A where attendees are invited to submit questions.

Jeffrey Blount is an accomplished author, Emmy award-winning director, and inspiring speaker. His latest novel, The Emancipation of Evan Walls, explores the complexities of being “young, gifted, and Black” in America—an experience that can be uniquely empowering and simultaneously isolating. The book mirrors elements of Jeffrey’s own lived experience and inspired pieces of Evan Walls’ fictional story.

Copies of Jeffrey’s book can be purchased from local booksellers including Turning Page Bookshop, Blue Bicycle Books, and Buxton Books. The event is free and open to the public. Those interested are asked to register online at https://rpcommunityread_jeffreyblount.eventbrite.com/
