Sisters make a mark with bookmark fundraiser

Sabia and Niah are young sisters, ages eight and ten, who have always been inspired by creative service projects. Aiming to complete one project a year, they have participated in read-a-thons and even requested book donations in lieu of birthday presents. This year, they decided to make their mark on the community in a new way and founded Make a Mark Bookmarks. “We wanted to make something that was related to reading. Something that people can use a lot.”, Sabia says.

After saving enough money, they set out to design and create more than 300 bookmarks to sell.  Lucky for us,  they chose to donate all of the money that they raised to Reading Partners. Their goal was to raise $1,000 to help sponsor one student in our program. Much to the sisters’ surprise, they surpassed their goal in only a few months!
