A day in the life of a distance tutoring coordinator
Lydia Denney, a distance tutoring coordinator for Reading Partners Seattle, recently hosted a takeover on the Reading Partners Seattle Instagram account. Watch this “day in the life” recap to get the inside scoop of what a typical day looks like for an AmeriCorps distance tutoring coordinator.

Lydia: “Hi friends, my name is Lydia and I am a Sr. Distance Tutoring Coordinator with Reading Partners Seattle! I am super excited to be taking over the Instagram page today, and I get to show you what my day looks like, and give you a little glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes. Throughout the day I am going to be posting pictures, videos, some polls, and some Q&A opportunities. I hope you follow along, I hope you enjoy it, and I am looking forward to sharing with you today!”

Lydia: “So, my first tutoring session is about to start, and I am going to check in with my tutors for their prep time to see if they have any questions. I am also going to be asking my tutors and students today, “What’s your favorite thing about Reading Partners?”
So, I am curious, what’s your favorite thing about Reading Partners?”

Lydia: “Okay, Annemarie, what’s your favorite thing about Reading Partners?” Tutor: “My favorite thing about Reading Partners is the community; the community of volunteers, the community of staff, the board, and the students and teachers – everyone that is involved in making Reading Partners a success is so passionate and so caring and kind. It has been a highlight of my year, being able to participate in Reading Partners!”

Answer: I love getting to see a student’s face when I tell them how many words they just read! So proud!

Lydia: “What’s your favorite thing about Reading Partners?” Tutor: “My favorite thing about Reading Partners is getting to work really hard with my students and getting to see how much they grow each week!”
Lydia: “What is your favorite thing about Reading Partners?”
Student: “Uhm, let’s see, let’s see – reading!”
Lydia: “I love it!”
Student: “I had to say it, it’s in the name!”
Lydia: “Alright, Elizabeth, what’s your favorite thing about Reading Partners?”
Tutor: “My favorite thing about Reading Partners is being able to get to know each of my students and their unique interests and tie that into our lessons!”
