School’s out, but Reading Partner’s Summer Session is In!

July 18, 2013

by School’s out, but Reading Partner’s Summer Session is In!

oftheeising-stakeholder-newsletterA question we frequently heard over the school year from volunteers was: “do you continue tutoring over the summer?” We’re pleased to say that this summer in Colorado, the answer is, yes we do!

After completing our first year of in-school programming in Colorado, Reading Partners was excited to launch a summer program in partnership with the Lowry Family Center at the Evie Dennis Garrett Campus in Far Northeast Denver. Reading Partners offered our signature one-on-one tutoring to 5-8 year olds enrolled in Lowry Family Center’s summer camp, giving campers the opportunity to get out of the heat and explore a book with their own tutor.

In addition to reading with their students, volunteer tutors helped Lowry Center campers make arts and crafts related to book themes. We are thrilled to have both returning and new volunteers tutoring with us this summer, more than 40 in total! The Reading Partners team is excited to see whether this is a tradition we can continue for summers to come.
